    Nickel Boys

At once aloof and vividly moving, Nickel Boys is the sort of wonder that reinvigorates a jaded cinephile like myself and reminds the potential of the medium. Although already a fan of his documentary work, RaMell Ross easily skyrockets to one of my favorite working American filmmakers today. This movie packs so much in one movie that it’s hard to keep…

Disclaimer. My great uncle produced and directed this film. So, let's just set that aside. Also, let's set aside the obvious cultural asinine-ness of this film, which is what The Conqueror is mostly known for. That and maybe the fact that they shot on a nuclear testing site and most of the cast and crew died relatively young from cancer... including Wayne, including my uncle. Ok... that aside.

They made a movie about one of the most interesting and complex…
