A fun gem amongst my Gene Hackman binge. I don’t think it’s a hot take to say Hackman should’ve rocked the 70’s porn stache in every movie.

Captain America: Brave New World 2025
Bits and pieces work. Appealing to the center for a political thriller with a black captain America is so boring. They get to sprinkle in these powerful character moments that get undercut by “trying to unite the country”.
Anthony Mackie was not the problem in the slightest. I just wish the studio would believe in him as much as I do.

As someone who played basketball in Indiana, I can confidently say they nailed the vibe of small town obsession with the sport. For better or for worse, this IS the pastime of the homeland - whether it’s in a gymnasium or in someone’s driveway.
I know for a fact this movie directly contributed to basically every rec sports basketball coach making us really “tackle the fundamentals” with mostly unceremonious results.
