The suspense is good. I like that the movie keeps the watcher in as much confusion as the characters, but I wish there was more world building to allow me to make more sense of the movie without having to consult Reddit. The thing I wish was more up to interpretation was letting the other family stay in the house. It felt way too obvious from the beginning that letting them stay was yet another stupid decision by horror movie protagonists. Yes, I know it wasn't exactly their fault everything went south, but there was still unnecessary risk created.

Well placed gore. Nice suspense. The foreshadowing on the blankets and walls was cool. Not a huge fan of Florence Pugh, but she played the role of an emotionally lost grad student really well (minus her really awkward crying in the beginning, didn't really seem realistic tbh). The people of the commune getting pissed at the outsiders but also trying to convince them that everything they do is normal was funny. The guy playing the boyfriend did a good job of playing a dick who knows he's a dick.
This film just put me through an existential crisis. I just turned in a miserable 13-page final essay before putting this on. That was a horribly great idea because it made this film dismantle my soul in a way I wasn’t, and never could have been, ready for.
