A clinic from Mr. Joel Coen. A quick, clean work of art coming in at 97 minutes. Killer. The camera work was flawless and made the difficult look easy. I LOVED the bar shot over the sleeping man. I was anxious the whole runtime, and that says a lot for a movie that’s doesn’t have dialogue for the whole second act (essentially). After a decent cooldown of thinking nothing happened in this movie, I realized that may be the point. Of course nothing happens cause of who we’re sitting in with during the whole 2 hours. The brilliance of this movie lies in what indirectly happens the whole time. Screams, gunshots, smoke. The suffering happens as an afterthought, lulling us into a sense of comfortability and the idea of “nothing is really happening, why am I just watching a dude and his wife sit around.” They are right next to an all time atrocity worrying about the health of their flowers.
