A thinking man’s (person’s) war movie. Brutal battle scenes are juxtaposed with extended, ethereal internal monologues. Overall, not super accessible but very satisfying if you stick with it.
This also has one of my favorite Woody Harrelson lines ever…”I blew my butt off!”
Three sittings.
Michael Bay’s attempt at Black Hawk Down. Plenty of brutal action and macho one liners but the pieces don’t quite come together. I don’t think I’ll ever accept Krasinski as an action star.
Still an enjoyable, albeit thin, war film.

This just doesn’t get old. One of those movies you know will be a revered classic.
One sitting. That’s how good it is.
Even a so-so Die Hard is pretty damn fun. Timothy Olyphant is absolutely terrible but it doesn’t really matter. The action is the whacky but brutal, and Bruce is as charming as ever.
