  I was surprisingly floored by how artfully this film floats through many reflexive layers and techniques, while still delivering an emotional punch. I've watched a lot of films about filmmaking, and this one is unique and quite beautiful!

  Completely eclipsed my expectations, both in how brilliantly it leverages the fake documentary form to portray the events and justify the leanness of the storytelling, and how well it structures a narrative experience unlike anything else. It also feels "reverse dated", in that it would have been seen as way too heavy-handed and on-the-nose in 1971, but has grown ever more grounded and subtle by the decade. Worth seeking out the DVD!
