"I have to have some indicator that all of this is worth it. That we are moving this country forward."
things I loved:
1) the reminder that leaders like her exist and good things are possible
2) witnessing young women of color finding their voices and Black women leading as their whole selves
3) Valerie Jarrett's face at the reveal of the thigh high gold boots
unless you've seen the last minute of this movie you're still a virgin, sorry those are the rules
What fascinates me about this movie is not its villains but who it portrays as its victims. Because it's not the students, whose educations and futures the school administrators borrow against... they are an afterthought. Instead it's the CEOs, investment bankers, and the rest of the uppercrust of Long Island high society. The profiteers of a global corruption mad that they got swindled.
Anyway, Allison Janney is a vision, the cinnamon and toothpaste iconic, the gay bar scene a whole vibe, and meritocracy a myth that they sell to poor people
