  This was like if the Russos said "how can we botch an 80s Amblin film with as much money as possible" where the 320 million went I have no idea. This is 100% a money laundering scheme, I have no other explanation.

  Woof, my history with this project made it so it wasn't a must watch right away, but I have always been curious to see the finished vision. Ultimately I think writing and acting are the culprits here, but I don't think it's really the fault of the actors (Nicolas Cage is exempt here and was wonderful). The directing was so specific and stylized it's hard not to think Osgood Perkins was very specific with how he wanted the cast to be portraying their characters. But unlike Shyamalan or Anderson, it didn't work for me.
