I'm Still Here 2024
Incredible. I felt immediately engrossed in the idyllic images I had of 1970s Rio (the beach, the music, the fashion, the most beautiful MCM furniture), and was having a great time watching this family. Then i was quickly brought down to earth by the tragedy of reality. Everyone is amazing— especially the kids, and the photos of the real family at the end (as per usual) made me cry.

Great gowns, beautiful gowns.
The only compliments I have are for Emma Stone’s outfits and some of the cinematography. Otherwise I literally hated everything about this movie and I am genuinely disappointed :(

So unfortunately I am not coming in with the glowing review I had anticipated writing. To start positive, I thoroughly enjoyed myself during this movie, and was laughing out loud and just in awe of the whole set design and aesthetic. Some of the cameo roles were standout for me, Issa Rae was so fucking funny as per usual, and I loved the music. HOWEVER. the main issue for me was the absolute lack of depth and lowkey harmful suggestions…
