  Probably not the best idea to have seen this in IMAX with a cold, cause the chills I got from hearing Joe Hiashis best score reverberate across the theater alone almost made me feel like I was outside in 50 degree weather.

  Don't regret it at all, tho. 🫠

  Welp. If there's one suspicion Ive had that's been solidified from watching this film and looking at the top reviews, it's that Letterboxd cinephiles sure don't seem to care about a film being mind-numbing garbage as long as it's over-the-top.

  Like, seriously. For how much people love to make fun of the Rise of Skywalker for being creatively bankrupt and having the logic of a childs first Star Wars fanfic, so much of this films 2 out of 3 acts…

  Works in almost every single way you'd possibly imagine that it could.

  As a romance, a slice of life drama, a critique on corporate hierarchies that leave people empty, lonely, and overly selfless in conditioning them to sacrifice as much as they can for "success", a Christmas classic, a complex psychological thriller with so many intricately woven-together plot details only to be fully understood with multiple rewatches... this thing has it all.

  Yknow, if there's one thing I've learned about film bros and classic movie buffs, it's that incredible cinematography is pretty much all that it takes to convince them they're watching something genuinely layered and meaningful, and totally not meandering and pointless for a good majority of its runtime.
