I'd argue that despite a few unsavory elements, this has been the best representation of the experiences of trans women that I have seen so far. It's certainly of its time, but it does leave some room for thought. It might be one of my new favorite movies.

The Match Factory Girl 1990
One of my all time favorite movies. It's quiet and slow, but it's still beautiful. There's subtle things iris does that shows that she wants to be sweet despite how depressing her life is.
