    Probably not purposeful but this felt like an unfunny spiritual sequel to Juno. Allison Janney is perfect as always but Ellen Page does not compel me, and the plot seemed half-baked.

    The first female-directed film to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Honestly, I didn't love it. The story was interesting and Anna Paquin was amazing (I believe she also won an Oscar for best supporting actress and perhaps is the youngest person to ever have won?) But the rest of the acting was meh, Holly Hunter's character just pissed me off, Harvey Kietel with face tattoos is not sexy, and some of the scenes were a little racist? Whatever, maybe it's a 1993 thing and I just don't get it. Objectively a good film but eh.
