Not your typical John Ford movie. It’s an anthology film with three short stories about Ford’s beloved Ireland. They aren’t all successful and I was completely bored by the first story. Light romp with Marlene Dietrich as a cunning woman who has two men in love with her. A fun way to spend 80 minutes but nothing special.

This was a strange and meandering movie. It might have worked as a 1970s style paranoid thriller about the surveillance state with Gabriel Byrne. But then you have Bill Pullman beamed in from Lost Highway doing sort of a weird take on The Player as a missing Hollywood movie producer. These characters never meet and these two movies never really gel into one cohesive story.
