Went into One Day expecting a lighthearted rom-com, giggles, butterflies, and all but left emotionally wrecked instead. What a gut-wrenching movie on timing, missed chances, and the cruelty of fate. I had a lot of thoughts throughout, but one thing is clear, may this kind of love never find me. Who has time to yearn for someone for over 20 years? It’s beautiful, yes, but also deeply tragic. A reminder that sometimes, love isn’t enough. If you’re looking for something to haunt you long after the credits roll, this is it.

Flying solo, with an empty screen and free tickets, what a perfect way to cap off the week! I went into the film completely blind, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

After discussing my dissertation topic with my lecturer earlier today, seeing this film felt like a perfect alignment. It only reinforced my decision to focus on the glorification of violence against women in film (Yes, she was a robot, but that doesn't make the portrayal any less relevant).

As for Josh he’s a tragic character, an absolute loser, through and through.

“You see? There are still faint glimmers of civilisation left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. Indeed that's what we provide in our own modest, humble, insignificant. Oh, fuck it”.
