Ma Rainey's Black Bottom 2020
I watched this movie when it first came out and kind of forgot about it for a while but the more I think back the more how realize how beautiful it is in every way.
Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis give the best performances I’ve ever seen from them. Boseman’s character is so heartbreaking, and his acting is so sharp it’s scary. Davis’s final lines as she’s riding away from the recording studio in the car are so powerful.
The music is spectacular and it looks gorgeous. I need to watch this again, but for now I’m extremely confident in a five-star rating.
