went into this thinking it was gonna be a journey across turkey to istanbul with loads of mad scenic shots etc. got the first bit of that very wrong lol but once i settled into the fact that this was a film about a very unhappy man living a very unhappy life in one village it really got me. amazing portrayal of male depression and the bitter, blaming attributes that those suffering put out on the people around them. great stuff, highly recommend. there are indeed loads of mad scenic shots too 👍

was never into star wars as a kid and i've often wondered why. i just found out! utter snoozefest

can't believe the bbc allowed this lol. silly and horrific, i would watch way more documentaries if they were all presented with the biting irony that watkins creates in this! crazy war, great insight into one of the many reasons why scots fucking hate the english. have always heard of bonnie prince charlie and it was lovely to put a face to a name.

anti war film etc etc yawn. would be jokes if they'd made all quiet on the western front like this

so much great stuff in this but felt like i kept thinking 'ooh this is a good bit' rather than it being truly engrossing. the score was great and there were lots of very poignant / funny / crazy moments but i ultimately didn't get much of a real emotional response to what i was watching. still enjoyed it though 👍
