This movie fuuuuuuuucking rocks. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time Denzel matches gene hackman so well, there are tons of “that guys”, the score rules, there’s not a dull minute in this movie. There’s literally three mutinies. HELL. YES. The dilemma at the center of the movie is actually really interesting too, and while I pretty strongly landed on Denzel’s side, you can understand hackman’s side and his frustration as well as the actions of some of the crew. Even the scene of them all boarding the submarine rocks so hard. GO BAMA ROLL TIDE.  92/100

Love the courtroom drama genre and this one is so interesting set in France where the legal process looks slightly different than the US. Thought the performances were great and the kid was awesome. Love the ending and visual style. A little slow moving at times but overall I liked this movie a lot. 87/100

Late entry in the “my favorite movie of the year” running. Holy shit what a final act this movie is so so good. This movie is simultaneously devastating but uplifting at the same time and does so quietly throughout the whole thing while moving at such a fast pace. A tight 100 minutes is really nice. The performances here are all incredible. Can’t say enough good things about this movie. I was locked in from beginning to end. 94/100

Give the Oscar specifically to Leo’s face. This movie is loooooong and a real slow burn which is accentuated by this line almost ever present score underneath most of the movie. Lily Gladstones performance really is as good as everyone says. This movie is honestly all about the acting. The story was interesting and absolutely batshit that it actually happened the whole movie I felt almost like I was being gaslit by what was going on. This may sound weird but I almost had like uncut gems levels of anxiety watching it. Also have to shoutout my king Jesse Plemons. 87/100

Not a movie but damn this bangs. Feel like I take new things away from this show every time I watch it. Acting is incredible, action sequences seem realistic and the whole story feels so honest. It’s so cool how they interview people at the beginning of every episode and you find out at the end who everyone is. Also SO MANY people in this show before they came famous and have like tiny roles, it’s honestly insane. 96/100

The animation style in this movie is awesome. Like all the marketing for this movie says, they really lean into the “teenage” aspect of this movie which makes it much more heartfelt and relatable. There is so much right in this movie from the animation style to the soundtrack to the humor. Not to mention it’s a TIGHT 90 minutes. A fun movie for everyone to enjoy, definitely a good one to go see. 81/100

You know that picture of wilt chamberlain holding up a sign saying “100” after he scored 100 points in the NBA? Cate Blanchett should do one of those for this movie. Holy shit what a performance. She incredibly embodies this demon consumed by ambition, intellect and greatness, to the point she destroys her family and loses everything she spent her life working towards. I probably wouldn’t watch this movie again, but don’t get it twisted this movie is so great and weird and interesting, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. 87/100

This is an amazing Austin Butler performance away from being one of my least favorite movies of all time. Jesus Christ. Way too long. The first half of this movie is almost unwatchable. I thought I was going to throw up from the amount of cuts. Tom hanks is a cartoon character. Big time fuck this movie. 45/100

I get it. All time Hackman performance. Car chase scene is good but also benefits from being one of the early versions of this type of scene.  Drags at times. Entertaining but I can’t say this is one I’ll go back to I’ve and over again.

This did not click for me. Despite an intriguing premise and trailer, the dialogue felt like it was written by a 94 year old man even though Clint only directed this. I thought the acting was fine enough (shoutout that guy from Reno 9-11 in the cast) but ultimately I just wasn’t super drawn in. A super okay movie to put on that nobody would really hate, but I’m not sure people would love it either. Meh. 63/100

Sheesh lotta online discourse about this one. Insanely tense with a lot of great visuals and sound design. Noticeably loud even for an IMAX movie, the gunshots are legit startling every time. I definitely wasn’t upset that there wasn’t a whole lot of “this is how we got here” “this is the reason Texas and California are together” stuff in the movie itself. On the whole I enjoyed it and I think there are for sure a few standout scenes…
