“If I do what you tell me, will you love me?”

This film is straight up bananas. On two separate occasions I shouted ‘WHAT?!’ at the screen. On several occasions the way this film is shot, the blocking and the overwhelming richness of the scene, made me laugh in disbelief.

I’m still not really sure what to make of what I know to be a controversial piece of art, but as a piece of art is a pretty spectacular. I…

“Hang on, this is going to be bad.”

Las Cinco Muertes... more like Las Cinco Mierdas!

If you thought that joke was dumb, wait until you see the plot of this film. The film is overflowing with painfully incongruous jokes and one-liners, all of which are objectively less funny than my awful Spanish wordplay.

Sheldon: What flow? There isn't any flow!

One of the most bizarre, unexpectedly mad-cap films I have seen, and I think I kinda loved it(?)!

Alan Arkin’s gradual descent from disdainful exasperation through stupefied disbelief to full deranged commitment to the misadventures somewhat mirrors the experience of watching the film. This brilliant performance is only possible due to Peter Falk’s manic turn as Vince that is so…

This caught me off guard the first time with how heartfelt it was. This time hit me like a train/plane/automobile.

    Wholesome, funny and utterly devastating.

“Crying helps me slow down and obsess over the weight of life's problems.”

This was my second time watching this film, showing it to my mum and sister for the first time. I remember the first time being so moved by it and it did not fail to do so the second time round.

A beautiful film, both hilarious and sad, it goes up there with my favourite Pixar films. My only gripe is both times I’ve watched my focus starts to wander a little during parts of the middle third. However, as a whole the film is a delight.

    “What are you, like, 80?”

Come on...  it’s good fun right? It’s not a great film and it has some whopping flaws (like anything CGI in the film), but it’s good enough for it to be a enjoyable little jaunt down a well-trodden path.
