    Lots of jokes about the ‘Oppie’ nickname but I was fascinated by how it was presented as an erasure of his Jewishness by American characters, a cutesy, none-more-American designation at moments when he is ambivalently, uncomfortably welcomed into the fold of jingoistic, conservative, and genocidal Americanism. A masterstroke!!
