A Real Pain 2024
Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin essentially play themselves/the same character they play in every movie/tv show. Found Kieran Culkins character grating and not in the endearing way. Still annoyed at the awards category fraud when this is most definitely a lead performance. Note: watched this while I was cranky on a plane which may have had an effect on my viewing experience.

Setting aside the Kevin Spacey ick of it at all, this was amazing. Top tier performances and pitch perfect black humour that hit all the right notes throughout. Annette Bening as a perky realtor collapsing in tears after trying and failing all day to sell a house?? Could you ask for more?? Was surprised that this cynical comedy satire was apparently an Oscars juggernaut and BP winner.

Solid movie. Didn’t quite hit as hard as I thought it might have given the very fun premise. Not quite sold on Glen Powell as a movie star yet. Also major lol@ him removing his glasses, styling his hair slightly differently and going from nerd to hot! Fav line of the movie goes to “I would rip out my IUD for Ron”
