Finally got around to watching this. Such a well done and great story. I really enjoyed the politics surrounding the role of the emperor, the manipulation of the mob, and the politics of the Roman empire. Russell Crowe has been a lower level favorite actor of mine, and this is definitely one of his best if not his best performances. But Joaquin Pheonix was incredible, definitely one of the best performances I've seen for a bit. Really gets me excited for Napoleon with him and Scott. Such a fun and entertaining story with important themes.

This is probably my favorite book I've read in the last two years, so I was really excited when Scorsese and Dicaprio took part in this film. At three and a half hours it was of course long but it didn't bother me too much. Which having known the story from the book probably helped. Get prequel to a great series. They developed the character of Snow very well. The games weren't the best and I would have liked to learn a little more of the society and the politics in these early years. I thought the length was good and part 3 was really interesting. I'd like to get another movie but they shouldn't force anything.
