Put simply, this is a fresh spin on the home invasion genre made with enough care and creativity to carve out an identity of its own. It also inspires something in its audience that seems all too rare in contemporary genre cinema - a sense of genuine surprise and shock.

Midnight in Paris 2011
There is so much incredibly rich literature and talent that the film’s script has drawn from in creating its plethora of characters both historical and contemporary, and it manages to distill centuries of ideas about place, love, and the human condition into a wonderfully enjoyable and clever love letter to Paris and history that also reminds you to be thankful for the moment, rather than living in the past.

300: Rise of an Empire 2014
It doesn’t reach the heights of its predecessor, but its action scenes are filled with enough creativity to warrant a watch from viewers craving more of this stylized depiction of Ancient Greece.

Adaptation. 2002
This film almost feels too clever, too on-the-nose to be true - but when taking into account the way its narrative mirrors the circumstances of the film’s own creation, you just sit back and feel thankful that such a film was ever brought to light.
