It’s always nice to see a piece of work that plays with the boundaries in which it is presented. Quiet Place really is something I haven’t seen before, a somewhat emersive cinema experience which is propelled through its defiancy to the regular tropes seen with the horror/creature movie genre.

It’s great to see more black comedies getting the attention they deserve, and this is a prime example of why the genre is so good. Think ‘Being John Malkovic’ fused with a real sense of dread, and a discussion on liberal racism. A blend of real characters played fantastically through a great choice of casting, and an other-worldly oddness sprinkled throughout until it hits boiling point. Back to back. It lives up to the hype and inches just past the first. The sequel to one of the most perfect examples of 00’s action is loaded with even more oburd yet explosive set pieces to ever grace cinema. The one major shake up is with Bosley, I still don’t really get it but I actually think it’s better. Also the bar scene is just incredible.
