Like a finale to your long-time favorite TV sitcom, SNL 50 was a welcome Sunday-night trip down memory lane that left me feeling a very unexpected nostalgia for the loss of the American monoculture and many of the 20th-century legacy entertainment institutions that are on their last legs.
Will we still be celebrating SNL at 60 years or 70 years or beyond? Maybe, but SNL 50 felt like a great swan song for everyone involved.

Nearly a decade after Fury Road, Furiosa feels like a story that was too good for George Miller to not follow through on and make himself.
This vengeance-focused origin story is filled with richly idiosyncratic details and impressive action-sequences that don’t pale in comparison to Fury Road — which is a massive achievement.
I don’t know how many more Mad Max stories Miller can make beyond this, but I wouldn’t put it past him to continue making more ambitious stories set in this world, even as he enters into his 80s.
