kind of blows Soy Cuba out of the water. Putting a Cuban director in the chair reveals a lot of Kalatatoz’s exoticization of the island. Been a while since I’ve seen it but does he even mention Castro at any point in the film? Bautista? Further installment of Cuba as a political metaphor rather than a land/people in and of itself.
