This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It's very refreshing to see a black protagonist in a way that doesn't highlight insecurity as a black person or force him to be perfect. Joe has imperfections and it's comforting to know that black kids will be growing up with a character like this.
The biggest flaw to me is that he isn't a black man most of the movie. A white lady's soul (22) is in his body the entire time and it's almost disappointing that we missed out on Joe existing as himself.
