  Wozu habe ich mir jetzt zwei Stunden lang angesehen, wie Jugendliche zwei Stunden lang von ihrem Umfeld aufs brutalste psychisch und physisch missbraucht werden? Das Drehbuch gibt nichts her, keine charakterliche Entwicklung, keinen Charakter wird auch nur ein Moment der Freiheit zugestanden. Für wen wurde dieser Film gemacht?

  This is a dangerous piece of historical revisionism that feeds into the  nationalistic myth of the 'innocent Wehrmacht soldier.'
  
  If this film was a person, it would sit next to you in a bar, drunk, with bad breath, and tell you that “the nazis weren’t all bad, at least they built the autobahn - and remember that Trautmann-Guy, he was in the Wehrmacht and played for Manchester City“
