Free Fire 2016
I like what this movie is trying to do, but I think it fails in the execution. The majority of the movie is spent in a single extended action setpiece that is visually hard to follow. The erratic editing and relatively close cinematography never allow you to establish an understanding of the geography of the scene, their sightlines, where they are all located, etc. It is clear what happens at each point, but only because the characters are constantly saying what just happened; the outcome would be mostly indecipherable based on the visuals. Would love to see a better version of essentially the same thing.

Sorry to Bother You 2018
Wow, this is up there as one of the most surreal movies I've ever seen. No doubt about it.
Beyond that, it's a little hard for me to place, probably due to some lack of cohesion. The first two-thirds or so of this movie is a brilliant, pointed satire with great humor punctuating a solid message. The concept is great, performances are great, and there is cohesion.

Overall, this lacked cohesion or purpose and was very hard to follow. Apart from a few good performances, there were no redeeming qualities. The few actually interesting threads that came up were all immediately dropped, without even hinting at an explanation.
