    The Hole

The juxtaposition of drab reality and the frill of desire. the hum of refrigeration and rain against the song and dance of daydreams. A hole that not only represents loneliness and void, but is a doorway. A connection to desire and fulfillment.
This film reminded me what it was like going through covid. The isolation and cabin fever that made one feel like a cockroach, no joy just survival. Is joylessness the undying bug? Or is The Hole telling us that love uh... finds a way?

If Anna Karina tells you she wants a baby and your next move is to hang out with your bro at the bar, I can't help you

Humanoid aliens terrify me. This guy fornicates with them.

I was expecting a cheap silly doc about a nutjob, faking stories to get his 15 minutes and sell paintings. No, Huggins is completely genuine. I believe this guy believes he's being whisked away to make alien babies while a preying mantis watches in the corner. And I absolutely love his art.

    ★★

Heavy on the old-school misogyny, men attacking young girls and slapping around gaslit female characters written as helpless hysterical objects. Unfortunately, the solid chase scenes, brief moments of tension and atmosphere don’t hold up this non-giallo.
