  A lady is cheated on and lives out her fantasy of escaping to Tuscany. There, she sees some orange trees that may actually be olives and she gets in touch with her sexuality in Positano, which is almost five hours from where she lives in Cortona. Polish laborers ogle her daily while they renovate her villa and Sandra Oh shows up and makes me cry. Creepy Italian trees.

  An adaptation of a Tolstoy novella has all the French new wave weirdness I dig. Action is shown in nearly static frames and the cultural critique is unmistakable here. Its very Frenchness makes the film feel otherworldly to me.

  He-he-hello. Despite the problematic Arabic music goofing that happens in this, Von Scherler-Mayer still gives us a positive film about figuring out what you want from life. And, librarians rule.
