The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964
This film is just raw emotion from beginning to end. It truly is a timeless piece of cinema. Jacques Demy knows how to tell a powerful, gorgeously mounted musical and I believe Umbrellas is his grand opus. It's clear after watching his filmography what Damien Chazelle was watching when writing La La Land. Also, the ending shot of this movie is perfection...

Heartfelt, brutal, and unapologetically romantic are a few ways to describe Roberto Benigni's Life is Beautiful. Loved everything about this film. A universal story of the transcending power of love. Also one of the best scores of all time in my opinion.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001
