  My main complaints with this one are the pacing (the first 35 minutes felt like an hour), and the frustrating lighting (or lack there of) in so many scenes. Overall though, I respect what's happening here with the campy characters, puppetry, and generally great effort on a low budget. I vibe with the movie this is trying to be, even if it doesn't quite manage to get there.

  shoutout to the lady who, when she saw Dracula for the first time as he popped out of his coffin, said nothing, asked no questions, and just silently stared at him like he was magic mike.

  that is what comedy, and vampires, are meant to be about.

  i was 10 years old the first time I saw this movie and that experience did three things for me:

  1. gave childhood me nightmares the likes of which still haunt me to this day
  2. instilled adult me with a love of horror intense enough to define the entire way I think
  3. imprinted upon me an intense, unshakable, lifelong attraction to one Mr Leigh Whannell
