An observational masterpiece. I think this is one of those films that quite literally doesn’t shy away from showing everything. We see and hear even the most intimate thoughts of Ackerman’s character. Je tu il Elle almost feels autobiographical about Ackerman, reflecting her deeper feelings and thoughts. It’s just great in that sense, and some of the long takes, especially at the beginning and end, are beautiful—and even erotic?!

Panelstory or Birth of a Community

A dark comedy about communist blocs in Czechoslovakia, it’s actually a really funny and interesting film that brilliantly studies characters living in these new builds (which aren’t fully functional).

The editing style and choices are extremely unique. The film takes a psychedelic approach to editing, which gives it a really bizarre energy, especially when paired with the brutalist architecture of the time. The ost I love too, my favourite part being when they’re in the young mothers house, it’s oddly upbeat but also eerie at the same time…

Oh god this film was bleak and just depressing as fuck, it made England look like some nuclear wasteland but it really does fit with the theme of the film. The whole film is centred around revenge, the revenge is done so brutally it won’t be nice to watch for many people out there, and I guess it does have the whole moral dilemma is taking a life for another really needed? Or does it just make you worse than…

    The Red Shoes

Awkward moment when I said I’m not going to watch this because it looks boring asf, and it turns out to be one of the best films I’ve seen in along time. The choreography of the dancing is extraordinary, I actually felt like I was sat in the theatre watching the art happen, and the set designs are mesmerising, and to think this wasn’t an adaption from a theatre play makes it even better. Also black swan is lowkey just a edgy remake of the red shoes.
