  First half hour has some unsettling atmosphere and scary moments but other than that, it doesn’t really evoke anything

  Also trying to be like 10 other horror/thriller movies at once. It wears its influences on its sleeve - silence of the lambs , se7en, zodiac etc

  Un subtle metaphors are not bad metaphors. If a metaphor is readable to a large audience, I believe that’s a good thing. This is probably an important theme topic for a lot of people to ponder too.

  This movie does run unnecessarily long however. Theres probably like 30 minutes of run time dedicated to Margaret qualley dancing.

  The substance is clearly a bad thing, but a good side effect is the ability to pull chicken wings out of your bellybutton. Sign me up.

  Wish I could give this a 3 3/4 stars. This movie tries to toe the line between 300 and a more realistic period piece (I think it leans more towards 300). It has fun playing on our imagination/perception of what the Roman Empire was like at the peak of its power. - then again, there’s still a lot we don’t know about when it comes to daily life of a Roman citizen/half citizen or slave.
