This film is insane. Superficial stuff out of the way, looks great, all the actors do a good job, it's creative in all the right places and the sound design is impeccable (there's a scream in a snowstorm that drove me fucking NUTS!!!!). I love that the car scenes were shot in such a varietu of ways and with purpouse every single time. Made scenes that could've been boring, infinitely entertaining.

I think a big reason why this is connecting with people (aside from it being directed with insane energy and having a chimp do copious amounts of cocaine) is the fact that unlike other music biopics it feels like a genuine character study, instead of a straightforward telling of events. The autobiographical nature of it makes it so much more raw and unfiltered and that obviously starts with the idea of having him be a monkey in the first place.…
