It was doing so well. So well! A little goofy here and there. Then... It all fell apart thanks to one scene and this movie became ridiculous. The biggest theme of this movie is that everybody is fucking track stars.

Obviously getting to this movie quite late after the initial release. I do believe because of that, I suffer from the Academy Award curse. I expected this movie to have a bit more to it based on winning best picture. That does not mean I was disappointed. It was wondeful to watch this character's growth and to observe and question how much growth there truly was. The first act of the film was incredible and really set up the rest…

The Lighthouse 2019
Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson are an iconic duo. The only two characters in the movie but it feels like that's all you need in a film like this. Their difference in personalities invites the viewer to compare and contrast them throughout the length of the movie, until a twist ending that will leave you confused and befuddled. Recommend looking up an explantion unless you're smart enough to understand the allegory it represents (in which case props to you because I was so lost.) A24 doesn't miss.
