    Hooptober 11 #9 - film from 1984

    It’s CORN!
In a film filled with scythes and pitchforks and other various implements of destruction, Burt turned out to be the biggest tool of all.  I’ve never wanted a lead character to die off more!!  My director’s cut ends on a freeze frame of him being decapitated in the car.

Not a great movie -  but Malachi and Isaac were iconicly well-cast and the concept was creepy.

Colonialism, capitalism, and cronyism is pain.  This message brought to you by a millenial who lived through the events in this film, and the watchlist shuffle pick that forced me me rewatch this on a Sunday.

I feel like I was expecting a more radical re-interpretation?  Good performances, a well-made film but like… i guess i didnt love some of the choices they made re: the storyline.  I enjoyed it but it left me feeling kinda meh when all was said and done.

Buster Keaton lights up my whole world.  When he breaks the 4th wall, my heart skips a beat.  Just when I think I’ve seen him do everything, I watch a new (to me) one and I fall in love all over again.  Timeless genius, talent, and charisma.

Hooptober 11 #23 - film by Michele Soavi

This is what Hooptober is all about!! Finding something you love that you otherwise may never have heard about.

This movie is both smart and sooooo ridiculous.  Rupert Everett steals the whole show but his assistant Gnaghi is equal parts lovable and memorable.  The plot is simply hijinx after hijinx, gag after gag, with Dellamorte nihilisticly narrating throughout.  This got a lot of laughs out of me and I think it’s…
