The Shape of Water 2017
setting, design, costuming, sound, cinematography, all very impressive and impactful. i wasn't expecting a lot of what happened, and i remained shocked throughout the entire film. eliza was such a great main character, and i think del torro clearly communicated so much about her yet nothing at all. amphibian man was designed so spectacularly, down to the sounds he makes. i think there are just enough answers to keep me satisfied, which i really enjoy about it.

the last portion of the movie when the dinosaurs are auctioned off is where it really kicks off and feels like a valid exploration of the direct capitalization to weaponization of the creatures in the hands of humanity. the politics of jurassic park is one of the many things that draws me in, and we finally get a look into what the 1% really crave to get out of these animals.
