I loved the directors first movie (Swiss Army Man with Daniel Radcliffe) so I came in with very high expectations. It definitely felt a little bit heavy-handed with its message at times but managed to be one of the most genuinely creative movies I’ve seen in a while, with several moments making me laugh out loud with how perfect they were. The movie is almost absurdly ambitious and doesn’t quite feel like it hits the mark as well as it…
Black comedy to the point of absurdity, with a weird mixture of family drama, and a touch of horror. Kind of a movie all it’s own. The closest thing I would compare it to would be “The Lobster” or “Sorry to Bother You”. A solid movie but difficult to recommend unless you are looking for something that leans heavily into black surrealism and awkwardness.
