Flow is innocent and playful. Stretching a simple concept into an impressively emotional odyssey.
The camera is kinetic and evocative, the direction is solid and the animation style is simple and basic. However, there are moments when the animation comes across so rudimentary that it looks bad. Taking away from the impact of the film. Though, the water always looked great.

An extremely underrated film from Scorsese. Giving a masterclass in direction through what felt like an exercise in style. Lots of color, dark brooding interiors, surrealist symbolism, thoughtful structure, and a strong focus on tone through the usage of close-ups and swift camera movement. Part of me wishes Scorsese would return to this indie style of filmmaking. Creating low-budget masterpieces, rooting from his devotion and love of filmmaking. But I don't think that sells in today's industry.
