What makes Priscilla such a well made movie is that so many of the scenes are played like the most glamorously romantic thing you've ever seen until the reality of the situation hits you like a wave overtaking you as you wade back to shore.

This was fun! And the haters love to have fun. People hate that this film swept at the Oscars but fail to realize this movie truly feels like a modern classic!

Knew I would like it, did not expect to love it as much as I did. Body horror as a whole can often veer so off course that it leaves your film feeling like a cheesy 80s b-rated film but The Substance taps into something very special. Thematically, visually, and audibly (the sound effects are so gross i love it) this movie fucks.

Also love that they were able to give Dennis Quaid a role where he just plays himself.

    Wow. wow. wow.

I don't even know where to begin. To finally have a Mexican superhero. Fully realized without feeling cheap or as the butt of a joke. But authentic. It feels surreal to have a superhero that reminds me of my family. A superhero for my dad. My tios. My primos. It was so much fun on top of just feeling represented. Not just as Mexicans but Mexicans living in lower/middle-class America struggling with the throughs of gentrification. With amazing performances from Xolo Maridueña, Belissa Escobedo, Damián Alcázar, and George Lopez I can't say enough good about it.
