The Japanese art of lacquering, at first glance, is slow paced and repetitive, but looking further, each action is methodical, intentional and filled with care. Likewise, this film reflects these same characteristics through it's editing and simplistic yet careful cinematography. It's tenderness and authenticity just seeps out, the final airport scene especially is so rewarding.
