The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 2024
I enjoyed it, quite a lot, really. I just wish the movie had the confidence to distance itself from the Peter Jackson movies. The narration, the soundtrack, the scene with the Watcher in the Deep, the scene with the rings, the cameo, it all felt... annoying and pulled me away from the story in front of me, as if it was someone poking me saying "SEE ITS LORD OF THE RINGS, ITS LORD OF THE RINGS". It didn't needed it, Hera's story was compelling on its own.
Gotta say I was very satisfied with her ending.

Wtf was this writing? Oliver is annoying, unsympathetic, weirdly calculating, nosy and apparently lacks SO MUCH empathy he'd kill a dog to get his gf to act "normal" again. This movie isn't unrealistic or fantastic enough for this kind of dark humor to land, it feels like maybe in a Wes Anderson or A Series of Unfortunate Events scenario it could work, but in a pretty down to earth plot and setting…
