Where the Wild Things Are 2009
one of the most moving scenes of all-time occurs half-way through this, surrounded by what has to be the most adult film ever made based off of a children’s book. it’s so thematically nuanced, brimming with hope yet deep-seeded in melancholy and angst.
only spike jonze could have pulled this off. pls make more movies spike

Sleepless in Seattle 1993
i sort of maybe understand that ephron is being a bit tongue in cheek here with the whole stalking and “love in real life versus movies” angle but i’m not sure Sleepless ever really nails it’s intentions as our titular characters attempt to rendezvous in the film’s iconic final moments
