A strange and sprawling epic which delves into the hedonism of 1960s Rome. Mastroianni brings to life Marcello who simply wades through the film in a carefree manner. The narrative follows a loose episodic structure and isn’t afraid to leave loose ends. The location cinematography brings Rome to life leading to many iconic scenes such as the Trevi Fountain.
