As horror goes, this was pretty bleak.
Set entirely in a retirement/care home, the strength in this film comes purely from the two excellent leade performances. John Lithgow, who is absolutely horrible and unsettling, also Geoffrey Rush playing a bitter old judge who is constantly at odds with Lithgow.
This was good and quite harrowing but I didn’t rate it higher as it’s also quite unsettling, it’s definitely not a “fun” watch!
I found the visual style and pacing of this film incredibly dull and struggled to concentrate.
The premise is fine, simple really. Acting is fine enough, direction is reasonable but just felt very grey and bland.
A fairly poor entry in the psychological body horror genre.
