  Has that exact late-career Terry Gilliam broad farce/satire vibe that I just cannot stand (some absolutely terrible performances by actors I usually enjoy included). But, to Bong's credit, it still has its moments, some really cute creatures, and is not nearly as shitty as, say, The Zero Theorem.

  Keeps things fun and breezy until they aren't, with one of the wilder tonal shifts in recent memory. Of course, you know that this is not going to end well the minute they arrive at the island, but I still did not expect how firmly this crosses into that genre territory in its final act.
