Love Lies Bleeding 2024
A film of psychadelic vibes and sobering consequences, Love Lies Bleeding is an unpredictable ride of fast-moving love and ill-considered choices.
While some of the more abstract style choices towards the end of the film rob it of its emotional heft, I found myself wanting true love to conquer all, even if, just like the star-crossed lovers themselves, I'm unsure if they deserve it.

As someone who is infuriated by David Lynch and the abstract art he attempts to pass off as watchable films, it was a surprise to find that Blue Velvet is not only a coherent film but a genuinely great one.
An intense and unapologetic journey into the often confusing and indecipherable world of sexual desires, Blue Velvet can be difficult watching at times but provides an exciting backdrop of crime, intrigue and mystery, for the characters and audience to try and understand why we want the things we do.
