In many ways, this film reminded me of Il Buco (2021), which also examines archaeology (albeit more legitimately) in a tranquil, rural setting. The quiet, meditative approach combined with not giving too much away at the beginning serves as an effective technique for these types of films, establishing the fact that you are merely a spectator and are not going to be informed of each character's backstory and motivations.
