  God. I cried eleven times.

  John Chu is, as always, an extremely thoughtful director whose vision is eternally thorough and unrelenting. He expertly captures the magic and grandeur of Wicked with sprawling sets, intricate costumes, and most importantly, detailed direction. He is so specific. It is deeply evident that every moment was storyboarded and blocked.

  My problem with this approach, however, is it leaves the film feeling sanitized.
